GTA 6 preorders went live today for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a November 19, 2026 launch date confirmed. There is no PC version announced, no PC preorder page, and no PC release window on record from Rockstar or Take-Two. If you play on PC, you are not in this conversation yet.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed the PC omission directly in a Bloomberg interview in May. According to Video Games Chronicle, which reported on the interview, Zelnick said "Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you're judged by serving the core." He also acknowledged, in the same interview, that "with regard to a big title, PC can be 45%, 50% of the sales." Those two statements exist simultaneously, without apparent tension, at least from Take-Two's perspective.

The Precedent

Rockstar has run this playbook before. GTA 5 launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, arrived on PS4 and Xbox One in November 2014, and did not reach PC until April 2015, roughly 19 months after the console debut. Red Dead Redemption 2 had a 13-month console-to-PC gap, per Video Games Chronicle. The original Red Dead Redemption took 14 years. Rockstar does not appear to feel urgency on this front.

Based on that history, most analysts and outlets tracking the release are pointing to late 2027 as the realistic PC window. Tech-Insider estimates a range of November 2027 to June 2028. Insider Gaming puts a GTA 5-style 17-month gap at potentially as late as April 2028. No official date exists. Rockstar has not confirmed a PC version at all, though Take-Two has said the game will "start with a console or two before branching out," per Insider Gaming.

The Revenue Logic

GTA 5 is the clearest template. The game sold on PS3 and Xbox 360 at launch, then resold on PS4 and Xbox One in 2014, then resold again on PC in 2015, then resold again on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2022. GTA Online runs on all of them. Each release wave reset the revenue cycle. GTA 6 launching exclusively on current-gen consoles in November 2026 puts a PC release in 2027 or 2028 in the same structural position the PS4/Xbox One port occupied in 2014: a second sale to players who already know the game is worth buying.

Zelnick's comment about PC representing nearly half of sales on a big title explains the delay strategy. A platform that accounts for 45 to 50 percent of sales is not going anywhere. It will be there in 2027. The console window is time-limited in a way the PC audience is not.

The Preorder Details

Preorders opened today for both standard and Ultimate Edition versions of the game, according to T3, which confirmed the November 19 release date for PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99 and includes exclusive vehicles, weapons, apparel, and missions. Physical copies will contain a download code rather than a disc. All preorders made before November 20, 2026 include a "Vintage Vice City Pack." Digital preorders also come with a free month of GTA+.

PC players who want GTA 6 at launch have one option: buy a console. The next realistic check-in on a PC version is whenever Rockstar decides to announce one, which, based on the GTA 5 pattern, would not come until well after the console version has been on the market for months. The preorders that opened today are not for them.
